Boy=man is Madeleine's (Germany) last release out on the British Engineer Records. Boy=man: a musical depth, depth of thoughts, a concentrated of dynamic and melodic sounds, an elegant music played passionate. There are also some important inspirations around brit-pop and indie rock of the 90ies; although i feel this music more as emo-screamo never and ever heard before in this way: mixed with pop sonorities. The voice of Martin (Madeleine's singer) is sensible, a pleasant sound bringing to every composition an easy peaceful listening. Madeleine played with bands like REM, Wilco, Stereophonics: for fans of Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Elliot and Promise Ring.

That's not half bad. Madeleine are somewhere between noise-pop loaded with emo and cool Brit-Rock. This means tracing early Radiohead and the few British singers/songwriters that write sad but adrenalizing songs. They arrange cleverly, they'll soon get around and play stages that have become too small for the Stereophonics. Hopefully a lot of people will show up and discover Madeleine's potential and let them play the bigger stages next time. They deserve it.

Madeleine is a guitar volume band from Bonn with a style of 90's Brit-pop. The quartet is based around singer and guitarist Martin and tracks like "This Town", "By bus" or "Adolescent Freedom Song" provide a tidy Punk-Pop Attitude. Now they have a deal with Engineer records and the turbines that drive their rock system will contune. They have supported bands from the Stereophonics, Lampshade, Rilo Kiley right through the hardcore spectrum. With the current care and passion their goals should be attained sometime soon.

Madeleine's 'Boy=Man' is a good-tasting cookie. We're tied to the 90's" sang Travis 1997. In similar recognition of this wondrous decade Bonn band Madeleine have produced melodies in the seven songs in a very Britpop way. To a large extent particularly because of the voice of guitarist and singer Martin, somewhere between fragility and rebellion. The songs all draw on the heart-strings and tear glands with finely arranged ballads and there is no filler at all. With "Adolescent Freedom Song" there's an Indie Dance hit, which whips along with a driving beat and cool guitars, easily seducing you. The CD cover is a mystery though - what is it? You need to see and hear this!
