After a hiatus Assert are back with their seventh album 'The Great Resist', bursting with tension and burning with thirteen powerful new songs that warn of government over-reach, corruption, and the urgent need for self-enlightenment and development.
The Telford, UK hardcore punkers have been bringing the UKHC authenticity for thirty years now, touring with Agnostic Front, Murphy's Law, Discharge, D.O.A. Cause For Alarm, Kill Your Idols, Lunachicks, The Exploited , Cro- Mags, King Prawn, Capdown and also sharing stages with Napalm Death, Dropkick Murphy's, Madball, Slapshot, Biohazard, GBH. Avail, Earth Crisis, Peter and the test tube babies, UK Subs and many more.
Assert have been described by Kerrang magazine as “Among the most volatile bands the UK has ever produced” and given 5/5 live reviews. They've developed a reputation for chaotic, explosive, unpredictable live shows.
Fronted by “whirlwind” singer “Britt” who was named in the Sunday Times as a “subversive” involved in various anti government activities. The band are true survivors who have stood true to their morals, ethics and standards, without compromise. Free of clichés and remaining relevant and outspoken.
Assert vocalist Britt told us about the album; “The new record is an integration of punk, hardcore, metal, heavy rock and thrash styles. It crosses over multiple musical genres and comments on a lot that needs saying. One of the themes reminds people that governments do not care about ordinary citizens at all. Politicians are all puppets who do as they are told and follow a script that is written for them by global elites. Whether it’s Trump in the US, Macron in France or Starmer in England, it makes no difference. They are all compromised and following orders, and there is no longer any clear definition between left or right wing. Corporations and unelected organisations such as the World Economic Forum (WEF) the World Health Organisation (WHO) International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the United nations (UN) are the enemies of the people. We need to come together to resist their agenda and plans to ultimately create a one world government enslaving us all with the chains of digital identity, digital currency, surveillance and control.”
Britt continued; “I also comment on the role of the mainstream media, continually manipulating opinion and spreading lies. TV presenters, news readers, actors, influencers, all playing a role in distorting the truth. It seems that they will push any agenda for money and fame. So the album encourages people to explore self-development, to value community, family, friends and reject living in constant fear.”
Assert are back and better than ever and ‘The Great Resist’ is an album you need to hear now.
Released across all streaming channels and in CD format on 27th March.
