We're trying to get this single into the alternative charts, and that means we've had to add ISRC's, barcodes, etc and do things in a certain way we might normally not do in order to get all sales / pre-orders registered towards the charts - so please order from bandcamp now, following the links above.
The single will be officially released on 13th November and is available on limited edition green vinyl 7” or black vinyl 7” as well as a card sleeve CD and digital formats.
The moment the record is released you’ll also get unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app, plus a high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more.
Post-Punk announced the new 1919 record, saying:
Cult post-punks 1919 return with first 7” since 1983!
A pioneering goth band through singles such as “Cry Wolf”, their Machine LP, and two Peel sessions in the early ‘80s, 1919 returned after a 30-year hiatus to release 2017’s critically-acclaimed Bloodline LP (Westworld) and 2019’s Futurecide (Cleopatra). The band emerged from quarantine in 2021 with their fourth studio album, Citizens of Nowhere (Manic Depression), and the album saw the band labelled “head and shoulders above other denizens of the shadowy genre” in Vive Le Rock. Since then, the band have continued performing their high-intensity live shows across Europe and North America, including Leipzig’s Wave Gotik Treffen in 2023 and Brooklyn’s A Murder of Crows in 2024. 2025 saw 1919 inducted into the Leeds Goth Hall of Fame, performing in 2026 across the UK with alt legends Gaye Bykers on Acid, as well as a sold-out hometown show with fellow HoF inductees Salvation and Rose of Avalanche.
1919 have teamed up with Brighton indie label Engineer Records to release “Last Dance of the Departed”: the band’s first studio release since 2021 and their first 7” single since “Cry Wolf”. B-side “Satellite Man” has become a live favourite over recent years, while an early review states:
“Last Dance of the Departed knows the party ends, knows the gods may be absent, knows the body goes back to ash, and still finds enough electricity in that knowledge to keep the dead dancing.”
