Calathea will be playing the third Asilo Fest ’26 on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th of May, at the Sala El Sol in Madrid, alongside a diverse line-up of great hardcore, punk and emo bands, including Nogato, Comic Sans, Boys Kissing Boys, Benevola, Firstline, Defiance, Peace of Mind, FACA and Sentencia.
The Spanish screamo band will be one of the main headliners for this underground party, this year joining forces to raise money for a Skate school in Bogata. Tickets are 30 euros for the weekend. More info here.
Calathea’s angry and powerful 12” EP ‘Flowers & Knives’ is very nearly sold out, so we’re planning a repress soon.
‘Flowers & Knives’ balances the fury of five post-hardcore tracks with the calm of two interludes that bridge the songs. These seven tracks are full of sensual chords and screams, a rhythmic structure that holds everything together with fast and heavy beats, atmospheric passages and weeping guitar sounds. The song's lyrics delve into introspection, exploring sadness, pain, nostalgia, loss, joy, and the duality of life.
The band’s sound is characterized by post-hardcore with touches of post-rock, post-metal and hardcore, influenced by bands such as Touché Amoré, Deafheaven, Viva Belgrado and Boneflower.
