Dayton, Ohio, quintet The 1984 Draft, a band who channel American rock sensibilities through a ‘90s-tinted punk, power pop, and indie lens, will release a limited edition split seven-inch with Chris Broach (of Braid, SNST, The Firebird Band) via Sweet Cheetah Records and Poptek Records on May 10.

Today, the band share 'Holiday Inn', which was mixed by engineer and former Daytonian Chris Common, formerly of These Arms Are Snakes and Le Butcherettes. https://poptek.bandcamp.com/album/chris-broach-the-1984-draft

When the opportunity came to work with both labels, one belonging to my brother and the other a long-time friend and support in partnership, it was a no-brainer,” says The 1984 Draft singer Joe Anderl.

I had lost my friend to cancer and wrote this song on the airplane to a work trip immediately after the funeral. When the band got a hold of it, they brought it to life, and I knew this song would be on whatever release was next, and this is what’s next,” vocalist/guitarist Joe Anderl says.

When I heard about Chris’ own recent cancer battle, pairing the songs made a lot of sense. This release means a great deal to me,” adds Anderl.

Catch the band live at the following upcoming shows:

April 19, 2024, at Blind Bob’s in Dayton, Ohio, with Minnows and Summer CrushMay 24, 2024, at Blind Bob’s in Dayton, Ohio, with Houseghost and Smug Brothers
