The Stars Within

A 12" vinyl version of Mother’s first full-length album, ‘The Stars Within’ is on its way from the pressing plant in the next week or two.

With thirteen awesome new tracks from the Italian emo kids, you’ll be blown away.

The LP will be pressed on heavy black vinyl and limited to just 300 copies, although there will be CD and digital versions of the album available too.

After the series of singles, including ‘Dillydallying’ and ‘Golden Walls/Heights’ (released in 2020 on flexi disc and in 2022, respectively) and several line-up changes, the group has now matured and focused on song-writing, a process that has led to their debut album ‘The Stars Within’.

Mother is a five-piece alternative hardcore band from the province of Venice, Italy, formed in 2017. Their intention was to merge the emotional urgency of D.C.’s Revolution Summer movement with the raw immediacy of ‘90s alternative rock. Blending melodic intensity, post- hardcore energy and deeply personal songwriting, the band channels both nostalgia and disillusionment into songs that explore alienation, identity and the search for inner value in an increasingly fragmented world. 

Mother has become a constant presence in the Italian underground scene, constantly playing their butts off live. Their debut full-length album, “The Stars Within,” was recorded between at Raptor Studio in Vicenza with Matteo “Ciube” Tabacco (Dufresne). The record explores the emotional contradictions of modern adulthood: Isolation, routine, lost dreams and the struggle to preserve authenticity while growing older. Across its tracks, Mother balances explosive catharsis with inti- mate reflection, moving between abrasive hardcore passages and expansive, melodic textures. 

The lyrics explore different sides of the album’s emotional core: love letters to the hardcore and underground community; reflections on inclusivity and belonging; confrontations with the alienation of modern working life; and intimate memories of adolescence, friendship and the deep connection to music that continues to shape who they are today. 

With one foot rooted in punk’s emotional sincerity and the other reaching toward alternative rock’s expansive songwriting, Mother continues to carve out a space that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant.
