Magnet Magazine premieres ‘Throwing Rocks’ by Teddy DuChamp’s Army

Here’s the new video for ‘Throwing Rocks’, the first single off the upcoming full length LP ‘The spirit never dies’ by Teddy DuChamp's Army.

The album will be unleashed 9th October via Creep Records and Sweet Cheetah Records in the USA and Engineer Records (UK) and Scene Police Records (Europe).

Reassembling after two decades, Teddy DuChamp’s Army has gone right back to trusting its DIY instincts on new single “Throwing Rocks.” Founded by Mike Rock in 1998, the band grew like a weed out of Pittsburgh’s renegade punk community, eventually generating enough steam to tour with the likes with Dillinger Four, Paint It Black and Alkaline Trio. Following lineup shakeups and a name change, Rock wrapped things up in 2004.

Twenty years later, an offer to play a reunion show reignited the chemistry between Rock, vocalist Andy Wright and drummer Jeff Kopanic. They headed to J. Robbins’ Magpie Cage Recording Studio in Baltimore, tracking 12 songs with the post-hardcore legend, who also played bass on the album. ...The Spirit Never Dies. arrives October via Sweet Cheetah/Creep/Engineer/Scene Police.

The video for “Throwing Rocks” represents its own full-circle moment. While working as a union tradesman in Pittsburgh, Rock spent some time in a building that once housed a film and photography school and studio.

“A co-worker and I would spend hours talking about all the cool projects we could do in there,” he says.

A few years later, bassist Jon Barker moved back to Pittsburgh for a new job and fell in with Teddy DuChamp’s Army. In a stroke of luck, he had access to the very building where Rock had spent so much time pondering all those possibilities. The band threw together some homemade lights and a few cameras and spent an afternoon shooting the footage for the first single, with Barker handling most of the filming and editing.

“Everyone took turns helping out where needed,” says Rock. “We knew nothing about making a music video, but we let the DIY spirit guide us.”
