With the release of new album, ‘This One Looks Cool’ (Sell The Heart Records, Engineer Records) due on 17 October, TGEFM sprinted for the opportunity to premiere NY’s The Jukebox Romantics latest music video.
‘The Walk to Heartwood’, a 9-minute sprint through punk’s past, present, and future. Fast, frenetic, and full of heart, the song started as a joke about a literal 9-minute walk between stages. A song that turned into a sprawling, genre-hopping love (and hate) letter to the DIY punk scene.
For the band, it’s personal. Back in 2010, after a gruelling Vans Warped Tour, they stumbled onto THE FEST in Gainesville, Florida: Halloween night, a tiny crowd, big energy, zero corporate nonsense. They found their people, their scene, their festival. Now that experience fuels the track: nods to punk’s highs, lows, and what it could be, all captured in a New Yorker’s pace of urgency and energy. Catch The Jukebox Romantics live at THE FEST, where the walk (and the music) first came alive.
